Angelsoft brings organization to an often overwhelming investment process

By Amy Biemiller

It’s not enough to keep the deals flowing. Angel investors also have to keep sharp tabs on everything from event organization and member tracking, to syndicating opportunities and portfolio control. With no real solution available, David Rose, founder of New York Angels, one of the country’s most active angel groups, created one.

“In trying to streamline our processes, I looked far and wide for a tool or service to help with that. When it turned out no such platform existed, I decided to create one,” he says, explaining how Angelsoft came into being. In designing Angelsoft, Rose considered the needs of both investors and entrepreneurs as he created the web-based deal-flow management software platform, and focused on the communication aspect of doing business. “Communication is the basis for all early stage investing, and collaboration is the primary reason for the existence of angel groups in the first place,” says Rose. “Angelsoft helps both sides get more smart money invested into more worthwhile deals.”

NASVF member special

A strategic partnership between NASVF and Angelsoft entitles all NASVF members in good standing to free use of the AngelSoft system – a $1,000 value - for their seed fund or angel group for as long as they are a member. (This special arrangement includes one administrative account and unlimited standard investor accounts; members may upgrade to additional administrative users at standard rates.)

The platform appeals to investors because it helps them organize deal flow from entrepreneurs, evaluate opportunities and aids in collaboration with other investors and investor groups. Bryan Watson, executive director of the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO), the industry association representing angel capital throughout Canada, advocates Angelsoft as a best practice for angels. “In a country that is very geographically dispersed, having the tools to be able to collaborate easily makes all the difference in the world,” says Watson. “Angelsoft facilitates that sort of co-investment."

For early-stage entrepreneurs, the Angelsoft platform helps them find investors that specialize in particular industries or geographic areas, and supports the application process. Joe DiPasquale, founder of Collegewikis.com, credits Angelsoft with helping him raise $2 million in first round funding for his venture. “I put up my information and used the video format. Angelsoft made it so much easier for investors to communicate with me. It allowed me to raise a bigger round of financing,” he says.

“The goal was to standardize the funding process for both sides,” says Rose “ensuring that entrepreneurs are providing the correct information that investors need to make a decision, and giving investors the tools they need to manage a large inflow of opportunities they receive each month.” The software has been adopted by the early-stage investment community world-wide, with over 450 angel groups and investors now using the platform.

NASVF and Angelsoft have developed a new strategic partnership that offers NASVF members in good standing a special free-use offer from Angelsoft. Click here https://angelsoft.net/a/contact-form
