Online applications from companies and research institutions interested in presenting their break-through technologies in March at the eighth annual WBTshowcase
(WBT2010) are due December 14 – but extended to December 22 for NASVF members. It’s an exclusive deadline extension worth paying attention to: WBT2010 is widely recognized for having the highest quality early stage deals. One in three WBT presenters goes on to secure venture funding, license their technology, or sell their IP outright, representing over $450 million raised to date.
The concept for WBT2010 was developed in 2002 by Ann Rydalch, INEEL Lab and chairperson of the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer, Dan Loague, executive director of NASVF, Dave Appler, representing the Washington, D.C .office of FLC, and Robert Heard with Development Capital Networks. The team of visionaries recognized the significance of lab and university technologies to the marketplace, and conceptualized a national event linking federally funded deals with venture capitalists and corporate licensing scouts.
"We view the role of WBTshowcase as that of intermediary,” said Paul Huleatt, CEO, WBTshowcase. “Our goal has always been to source, vet, prepare and connect federally-funded companies and technologies with the investment community and Fortune 1000 strategic partners both nationally and globally. With our national network of screeners and mentors, no other event has the resources and dedication for preparing seed and early stage opportunities as WBT."
Set for March 16 – 17, 2010 in Arlington, Texas, the showcase offers a prescreened, pre-prepped collection of undiscovered companies and intellectual property emanating from top universities, labs and research institutions from across the country. It leverages a screening panel of over 80 investors and licensing professionals in order to select presenting companies and technologies solely on the merits of their innovation and the specific investment or licensing opportunity.
For more information, go to www.wbtshowcase.com. Deadline to apply is December 22, but NASVF members may extend their deadline by selecting ‘NASVF’ as the referral source on the application.
NASVF is a proud sponsor of the eighth annual WBTshowcase.
